Reflexology £30
Reflexology is a treatment which applies pressure to specific parts of the feet in order to stimulate the body’s own ability to heal itself. An image of the body is said to be reflected in the feet, so when pressure is applied to certain areas, this can help the parts of the body that the point corresponds to. Reflexology can benefit physical conditions as well as mental and emotional ones.  Often people who complain that their feet are ‘too tickly’ find that the pressure that is used during a reflexology treatment is surprisingly comfortable for them, and not tickly, but relaxing.

What can I expect during a treatment?
The treatment begins with a consultation to determine if the treatment is suitable.  Clients remain clothed apart from removing their shoes and socks (wearing loose fitting trousers is preferable so they can be rolled up slightly as the ankles are also worked on). Clients may choose to be wrapped up snugly in a warm blanket as sometimes when relaxing the body temperature can lower.  Lotion is used on the feet. Most people find reflexology to be a relaxing treatment;  similar to having the feet massaged.

After  Your  Treatment

Try to spend the rest of the day relaxing.
Avoid driving long distances or operate machinery.
Drink adequate water as this will aid detoxification. The guidelines are 2-3 litres of water consumed over the course of a day.
Avoid alcohol & smoking for at least 12 hours after your treatment to allow your body time to detoxify.
Eat light meals for the rest of the day so that your body can focus on the healing benefits of the treatment, rather than digestion.
How Does Reflexology Work?
One theory of how Reflexology works is based on energy channels, or zones, within the body. The aim of a treatment is to bring the energy of the body back into a state of balance. There are thought to be 10 zones, or channels, which are linked from the hands and feet to other parts of the body, such as the liver or the neck. By stimulating the reflexes or acupressure points on the feet, energy is stimulated to help the body to heal itself. Each part of the hand or foot is linked to a specific part of the body, for example the eyes or the spine and these body part are shown on reflexology ‘maps’, which are pictures of the feet, an example of which can be seen above. When these points are stimulated in the corresponding body the energy can once again flow freely. Energy blockages are thought to manifest in the feet or hands as ‘crystals’ which feel ‘crunchy’, or tender. As the crystals are broken down by massage the body may then begin to heal itself and health and well-being may be restored. Some conditions may benefit quickly from reflexology treatments, other chronic conditions may take a course of treatments.
Feedback
“Thank you for all the treatments and your endless patience”
“I’m amazed that my back immediately felt better after the reflexology treatment and still feels alright today”
“Very enjoyable treatment. Thank you”
“I didn’t know what to expect. I very much enjoyed it.”
“Reflexology is definitely benefiting my water retention. The morning after and for 2-3 days I find my ankle less swollen. My doctor has recommended that this treatment is a very good aid for lymphatic drainage. Emma’s treatments are sensitive and she uses a variety of pressures and techniques. The treatment is completed with a lovely massage.”
