What can I expect during a colour therapy treatment?
The treatment lasts for one hour, during which time a consultation form is filled out asking questions about health conditions, lifestyle, colour likes, dislikes, and decor in the home. There are a few health conditions which may prevent a colour treatment from going ahead, and it may be decided that another treatment, such as Reiki, may be more suitable instead.
During the therapy itself, the client lies down to relax on a therapy bed and their energy field is scanned for any imbalances. Colour patches are placed on the chakras and colour breathing exercises and visualisation may be used during the treatment. After the treatment information on how to include the colour(s) that are needed will be given.
Colour can also be incorporated into other treatments such as Reflexology, Reiki, and Aromatherapy.
After A Treatment
Try to spend the rest of the day relaxing.
Avoid driving long distances or operate machinery.
Drink adequate water as this will aid detoxification. The guidelines are 2-3 litres of water consumed over the course of a day.
Avoid alcohol & smoking for at least 12 hours after your treatment to allow your body time to detoxify.
Eat light meals for the rest of the day so that your body can focus on the healing benefits of the treatment, rather than digestion.
Introducing more colour into our lives
There are many ways that we can introduce the full spectrum of colour into our lives, by wearing specific colour clothes (including coloured patches, underwear, accessories such as scarves and hats), decorating our homes mindfully, buying flowers (or planting them in the garden), carrying crystals, eating a variety of different coloured foods, colour breathing, solarized water, and essential oils are other ways of including colour in our lives. When we understand the benefits that the addition of certain colours can bring to our lives, it can often help us to be more open to the colours that in the past for some reason or other we may not have liked.

How Does Colour Therapy Work?
An explanation of how colour therapy is thought to work would not be complete without mention of the electromagnetic spectrum. Each colour has its own specific frequency on the visible light spectrum, as you can see in the chart below. Colour is thought to also relate to the organs of the body which also have specific frequencies. By matching them up, colour is thought to influence the physical body, it’s organs and also the chakras and the aura (the energy field which surrounds the body), correcting imbalances and bringing them into a state of harmony. Ideally the full spectrum of colour (i.e. all the colours) should be present in our lives in order that we benefit from all the wavelengths.
